Coppercraft Guild Party Memories

year_born: 1938

memory: Coppercraft Guild. My mother fell in love with this...so did I. I even kept the original catalog and in my handwriting, I had written the original prices of each item in the catalog as they didn't print it. Long before Tupperware, the party plan was alive and well and that is how Mom got tons of Cooppercraft.

I recently bought 3 glasses with the coppercraft guild stamp on the bottom. They had a 2 inch copper ring around the bottom. I would like to know when these were made. I am looking for another glass If you know where I can find one I would greatly appreciate it. If it is in your catalog please send me a copy of that page and the date on your catalog. Thanks, Ava

I personally do not have a copy of the catalog this is a post from a visitor to my website or blog.

If by chance they see your post maybe they will send you the information you are looking for but I... the owner of this blog, do not have a copy of the catalog.

Does anyone know what ever became of the Coppercraft Guild company and its history prior to 1970? I was a part of the "salesforce" back in the 1970's and collected an abundance of copper and crystal products made by Coppercraft Guild. Just last month, I threw away the "sales suitcase" and all the flannel wrappings because they were so old, and I was moving. I've searched the internet only to find a one paragraph reference in the overall context of the history of copper, and a listing of the products foil mark.
Thank you for your assistance!

I also sold coppercraft in the 70's. I still have the tray, tea server, cream and suger containers.

I helped my Mom host parties when I was young. She just passed away and left my sister and I gobs of stuff, but it desperately needs to be cleaned. Are there any special instructions on how best to polish it back up? Would love to hear!

Anonymous said...

dont polish the copper, It has a laquer finish and it will cloud up. Try washing them in warm water with dish soap. dont soak them or the finish can cloud on you. If they just wont respond because the build up is too great on the surface, you might try a degreaser and rinse quickly. Good luck and remember, an antique petina is a good thing.

Hello, I have the Copper Craft Guild horse trotter/rider.

It is in EXCELLENT condition. I am interested in selling it. Does anyone know where I might sell it?

I really don't want to bring it to a consignment shop. I would rather have someone who really appreciates the Copper Craft Guild products purchase it. I have a picture of it to post if anyone is interested. Candice H.

My mother was a west coast regional manager
For Coppercraft Guild. Top sales won her many
$$ contests, trips, and cars. I have her scrapbook.
And I also have a catalog and other price lists. She
Quit working in 1970 after having lost a zest for life
When my brother ( her first born), died tragically
At age 16. The company offered many condolences
And gifts in trying to boost her back to work, but
Her desire was gone. I still have many items of copper
As do all my family who were given gifts by hosting
A party or otherwise. Mom worked 7 days a week, sometimes 3-4 shows a day. She always had a helper
To lug the bags and set up. Mostly, it was one of us
Kids. She worked all over the Los Angeles vicinity.

Any replies to this post can be emailed to:
Lungs-Gsr@live.com
Or,
Xavmarang@yahoo.com

I'm so thrilled to come upon this site, and want
To thank you for letting some happy memories
Flow again.

Anyone know what the sales suitcases look like? I found 3 identical suitcases in my attic with all Coppercraft items stored inside of felt cloths within. I guess these were her "show" items, as they had description stickers with item #'s on the bottom.

Anonymous said...

they were blue and the hinges and clasps extended so you could fit more stuff in them

Katie,

The suitcase that I had was a tan color, it was really like a box and a lid, it had straps that came over it to secure the suitcase. My suitcase was thrown out years ago. I don't think I have the felt anymore either.

I sold it for a couple of years, it went out of business I heard in the early 80's, I had stopped selling it by then.

I too have many of the items that I sold. My favorite is the teapot.

I have seen many items for sale quite cheap on e-bay.

I sold coppercraft in the late 70's. I loved it! I wish I had the set of wall plaques that has the teapot in it. I have the game birds, and a lot of really cool plaques. I cannot believe they went out of business, because their product was simply amazing!

I have four coppercraft music plaques I purchased back in the day for my hope chest. I have seen them on ebay but just wanted to know if anyone is interested in buying I am selling. $10.00 each plus shipping. reach me at paganoent@aol.com Thanks

I too sold for Copper Craft Guild located in Taunton, MS in the 1970's - 1980's. Copper Craft Guild became part of Dart Industries and was a low producer compared to the other companies within Dart Industries. The molds and machinery for the copper were sold to Towel Silver, from what I was told was nearby. The molds for the plaques were sold to Home Interiors. I have several pieces also and miss it. When Copper Craft was dissolved, I started selling for Coppersmith out of Albuquerque, NM. They are no longer there.

I am looking for a crystal water pitcher and champagne goblets sold by Copper Craft Guild. The last time that we moved, the ones I had, "disappeared". I was wondering if anyone has these items that they would like to sell. I was a representative for many years in the Seattle area.

there are hundreds of very reasonably priced Copper Craft Guild items on ebay, it seems there is still lots of it out there so it isn't hard to find or buy. I just got a crumb catcher and a candle holder at a tag sale for $1 each. I remember my mom having some of the bowls and planters when I was young. According to a google search I did on it, the company was part of Tandy Corporation until the mid 70's when it was closed up.

I was a manager for Coppercraft Guild in the 70's & 80's. Still have and use my products. Have many items new and still in the boxes. Sad that the company was sold and no longer around as far as I know. One of the VP's was trying to reestablish the company on the home party circuit in the mid to late 80's but don't know what happened. He approached me about working for them again but by that time I was working a full time day job, with children in school and about to be a single mom so it just wasn't the right time. Love the product which is why I started selling it. Good memories of parties, rallies, company trips, etc. Most of all, made many friends with my hostesses and miss that the most.

I was a distributor in the 70's. I acquired many pieces in both the solid copper and the "burnished with copper" wall plaques.
Among my solid copper pieses are the Roly Poly tumblers, Flower Vase, Cauldron Planter, Large Copper Tray ( I remember it was valued at $100.00 here in Canada).
Ihave a water pitcher, an ice bucket, a tray with 8 glasses with a copper/black ring that slides on the glass (If placed in the Freezer prior to use, it would help to keep the drink cold for longer) I remember buying solid copper Piggy Banks for my grand children. This tells me I was still selling in 1980.
I do not have a catalogue but, I remember the blue carboard -type suitcase and the dk. green felt envelopes for wrapping the pieces. I would love to hear from someone as to how to remove the acrylic layer on the solid pieces. Ellen

Coppercraft Guild was started by the Tandy Corporation (Radio Shack) in 1973 and was abandoned in 1978.

We have some items and just bought more. But in a search it turns out 2 items are missing that we'd had for a long time. A piggy bank and a 3 legged bowl. Saw the same thing listed on Ebay today.

Hello my mother just purchased a Coppercraft Guild Sample Case is this something of rarity? I am unable to find anything on it online. It's a pretty cool looking suitcase.

I have a mug that has the CG actually stamped in the bottom. (not the sticker)can anybody help me with this, Dating, etc.

To Ellen, I also have many of Coppercraft guild products. The way to remove the acrylic layer, is to bring water in a large pot, with a couple of tablespoons of baking soda to a boil and add the copper piece. Boil for 20 to 30 minutes, wash and gently wipe with a plastic scrubber it will come off nicely. clean with a copper cleaner. I have done this to many copper items. then you can use them on the stove ,etc. Charlotte

I would love it if someone could give me more info on a Coppercraft Guild set that I have. It includes a hobnail copper tray, eight roly-poly cups, with copper rings for them to sit on, what appears to be a creamer, and a Turkish-style coffee/tea pot. Although I have seen some of these individual pieces online, I haven't seen this whole set. Any info would be appreciated, especially an estimated value.

Thank you in advance!

Hello, I have been reading through all of your comments because it has been driving me crazy trying to remember the name of the home parties that used to sell the items from copper craft guild. I went to a few of them with my Mother. I used to know the name so well, when I was a teenager. I see many of you were distributors, can you remember?

I have a beautiful solid copper beer mug. I love it, but need to downsize, and the ones I've seen on ebay are just too underpriced for their true value. I can't part with this beautiful mug for $10 and then pay paypal and evay as well. Anybody recall the actual purchase price of the solid copper mugs?

I have the Coppercraft Guild "Mother and Child:, not sure of the right name. Tried to sell it but the lady said she had never seen it before. It still has the sticker on it and is in great shape. Any info would be helpful and value.

I use to sell Coppercraft in the 70's also. I still have the old brown suit case type box with the straps that go around, and almost everything that came in it plus more. A lot of it is still in real good condition some needs to be cleaned up. I think if I looked hard enough I might be able to find a catolog and maybe a order form or two. Reading all of this makes me really want to look.

My brother sold coppercraft in the seventies. I had purchased quite a few pieces at his home parties and just loved them! I still have several pieces, others I have given away. I still have the copper and brass owl bank and also a napkin holder and an owl key holder. Very good quality and designs!

Glad I found this old post. I wanted to know if the old tan/brown suitcase that my mom used for her coppercraft shows was indeed an official suitcase. From reading the comments, I see that it is. I'm going to put it up on Ebay this week. I'm also going to try to remove the varnish from some of the old stock I have. Some of the older pieces have flaws and I think they will look better if I clean the varnish off.

Reading all of the entries here made me so nostalgic and missing my Coppercraft Guild business and the beautiful pieces offered by the company. I loved my home parties...cherries jubilee in the copper chafing dish always was the shining moment at the end of the party. In Cincinnati, I sold in the late 70s (77-78), then had to quit my very lucrative part-time party plan to take a full-time position outside my home. I still miss it all today!

My mother purchased a lot of Coppercraft guild in the 70's at home parties in Michigan; I still have and use many of the items. I have two large beautiful oval trays that are etched with a Currier & Ives print. One tray title is etched as Spring Blossoms and the other is titled Sunday Sleigh ride and is a winter scene. I have looked all over the internet and have only found one other Spring Blossom tray; I would LOVE to know if they made trays with other seasonal Currier & Ives print etching. I would LOVE to find the other two seasons and have a complete set. Can anyone with a catalog confirm this for me?

Thank-you. Vickie Rich

I only had a couple of things from them but loved all they had. I used to collect brandy snifters and they had one in copper. I only wanted it for show and kept it on a shelf and looking nice. I also bought an owl bank and I think I still have that. We had a garage sale about 3 yrs ago and my darling hubby sold my brandy snifter for like $.50! I told him he was crazy and then pulled my owl off the the sales table which was going for a quarter! Men have no idea what they are doing!
